HANSI VERDORFER
Winemaker out of
pure fascination

There had been no winegrowing at Riedingerhof since the 1970s, so more than 30 years had passed. My grandfather was a passionate winemaker and to this day my father is still dedicated to fruit growing focusing primarily on the cultivation of apples and chestnuts. The subject of wine has interested me from an early age.

The old walls of the centuries-old wine cellar at the Riedingerhof have fascinated me since I was a child. It bears witness to the long tradition of winegrowing on our farm. This is proven by the last documented reference dating back to 1782. Today I have the privilege of pressing our wines here.
My fascination with winegrowing continued during the time I was training to become a winemaker and carrying out numerous experiments in the wine cellar.
Ready for action and with the full support of my father, I decided to continue my grandfather's legacy on three hectares of vineyard and in doing so revive our winegrowing tradition producing high-quality South Tyrolean organic wines.

Natural wines with conviction
I have continued to progress from year to year and in doing so have experimented a lot, learned even more and along the way discovered what is probably my greatest passion - natural wine! Today I produce wines that are as natural as possible and authentically reflect the terroir and character of the grapes.
For me, tending to our vineyards, the grape harvest in autumn, the work in the cellar and the wine tastings with our guests are very special moments because they enable me to share my passion.
